LEGO-licensen har vist sig at være en kommerciel succes med tre Star Wars titler, en Indiana Jones udgave og et kommende spil baseret over den mørke ridder, Batman.

Star Wars-trilogien har alene solgt mere end 15 millioner eksemplarer på verdensplan, mens Indiana Jones lå øverst på salgslisterne tidligere i år. Med sådan en succes ser mange frem til Batman-udgaven efter filmsuccesen "The Dark Knight", og der er allerede en tegnefilm på vej baseret over spillet.

Succesen vil ingen ende tage og med det mener produceren af LEGO Batman, Rich Earl, fra Traveller's Tale, at der bør være et loft. Med et sådan ord menes der, at man ikke vil malke LEGO-licensen, men at der stadig bør være en til to titler ude om året, akkurat som kunderne forventer.

"There's an expectation now that there would be a LEGO game per year, and we certainly feel that one or two games would be the right amount per year, otherwise there'd be a saturation of LEGO games and they'd lose the charm," afslører han.

"We're also conscious that we're making games for young kids. We don't want to take the piss out of the consumer and end up making any old rubbish. We're hoping people feel our games are of a high standard and we want to continue doing that."

Men om man kan holde tilbage, kunne man godt have en lille tvivl om, da Traveller's Tale sidste november blev opkøbt af Warner Bros., som blandt andet har Harry Potter franchisen i lommen. Det er da også et projekt, udviklerne ville sige god for:

"Personally I hope [it happens]," siger Earl. "The LEGO models are obviously there. With Warner's back catalogue of movies there's a lot of opportunities opened up, so we'll have to see. We haven't announced anything yet. We've got a wall of the next few years lined up in the office and it always keeps changing.

"As long we continue to make good games, and the gameplay doesn't get tired, then there's no reason why we can't continue to use the LEGO franchise and brings these famous characters to life."

Da firmaet stadig har et samarbejde med George Lucas, kunne flere Star Wars og Indiana Jones titler baseret på LEGO-licensen stadig være på vej.
